For over two years now, I’ve been experiencing nonvoluntary muscle twitching throughout my body. And today, I want to share a more personal look into that experience—what it’s been like living with BFS, what I’ve explored along the way, and how it’s shifted my understanding of health, healing, and even the way I move through life.
Because if I’m being honest, this journey hasn’t just been physical. It’s been emotional, mental, and deeply reflective in ways I didn’t expect.
What Is Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS)?
Before delving deeper into my personal experience, let’s ground ourselves in what Benign Fasciculation Syndrome (BFS) actually is.
BFS is a neurological condition characterized by involuntary muscle twitching, which can occur anywhere in the body—legs, arms, face, even the torso. While the word “benign” suggests it’s not life-threatening, that doesn’t mean it feels insignificant.
Because when it’s your body… it doesn’t feel benign.
It can feel scary. Unpredictable. Consuming.
For me, it predominantly manifests in my legs and waist area, creating both physical discomfort and emotional distress.
As someone who has always prioritized health, receiving this diagnosis felt like a betrayal. I had this quiet belief that if I just “did everything right,” my body would cooperate.
But BFS reminded me—very quickly—that health isn’t transactional.
The Impact of BFS on My Life and Career
When my BFS symptoms first appeared, I was at the peak of my career.
My coaching business was growing rapidly. I was on track to hit six figures in my first year. Partnerships, sponsorships… everything felt like it was aligning.
And then my body said: pause.
The muscle twitching wasn’t just physical—it became mental noise. Constant. Distracting. Draining.
I started questioning everything:
My energy
My capacity
My identity as a coach
How could I coach others to lead abundant lives when my own body felt out of alignment?
That question stayed with me for a while… and honestly, it reshaped how I view both health and wealth.
Because the truth is, the way we feel in our bodies directly impacts how we show up in our lives—and even how we manage and experience money.

Potential Triggers of BFS: Stress & My Juice Cleanse Experience
One of the hardest parts about BFS is that there’s rarely a single clear cause.
For me, things seemed to begin during a very stressful period in May 2021—around the same time I decided to do a juice cleanse.
I had done cleanses before without any issues, but this time felt different.
Looking back, I can see how the combination of:
emotional stress
physical depletion
and detoxification
may have overwhelmed my system.
And this is something I think we don’t talk about enough in the wellness space…
